Because we are Dubai brand, & the U.A.E is our home, environmental practices are of paramount importance, & have always been at the forefront of our operation.

From the outset our mission has been to use only biodegradable packaging, avoiding plastic totally to ensure our contribution to landfill is minimized. We use napkins, bags and boxes from recycled unbleached materials.

We are one of the only companies in Dubai to use fully compostable carry bags, made from certified materials – which decompose in a short time. Our target for 2017 was to eliminate cling film and straws from our operation. It was a priority to us, to minimize wastage across all areas of the business.

Cold Drinks Cups – Plastic removed & replaced with biodegradable product – 2009
Retail Cookies Bags – all biodegradable – since 2013, & now even better, fully compostable since 2018
Customer Takeaway Bags – implemented compostable – 2017
All straws eliminated March 2018 – changed to unbleached paper
Cling film reduced by 80% across the company since 2019

Cupping Notes
Sidamo is a single origin, wet processed coffee from the Sidama Zone, in the Southern highlands of Ethiopia. The coffee is roasted medium, giving it its balanced, smooth and rich flavour profile. It features a spicy, fine herbal and floral aromatic, with notes of citrus fruits & a hint of berries.
Working practices and initiatives for our customers

Encourage customers where possible to order larger quantities, less often, to reduce the number of deliveries.

Ensure customers and suppliers are aligned with our values & practices, on both ethics and sustainability. Such as our Coffee BYO Cup discount initiative - where customers are encouraged & educated to eliminate single use disposables, by bringing their own cup for takeaway beverages

Ensure that all staff are aware of our policies and to communicate these to our customers.

In-store signage implemented in all our cafes, explaining Sustainability and educating our customers on environmental policies

Use FSC, recycled, biodegradable and compostable materials where possible.
Office and Travel practices

We use only filtered water in all our offices & staff pantry areas – to fully eliminate single use plastic bottles

Any unused food or excess food is distributed to staff, & donated – to avoid unnecessary food wastage.

All plastic bin liners have been removed since 2016 in all office rubbish bins

Minimise the use of paper and other consumables by only printing where absolutely necessary, and when doing so, printing double sided & reducing waste

Recycle all consumables where possible in our baking processes.

Reduce energy consumption by educating staff not to use lights when not necessary. Ensure AC’s are turned off in cooler months or in areas & offices not in use.
